Author of the blog "Cause I Believe in You" wrote a little splurge called "Whispering Shout". She displayed an image of four, fall leaves laying on the pavement. Three of them are small in size, and are a dull, almost gray color, while the fourth leaf is larger and has bold, shiny colors of red and green running through it. Like a shout, the leaf easily grabs your attention. The author writes how the beauty of this leaf does more than grab attention; it is an influence.
She describes the leaf with a variety of words such as "invigorate" and "vessel of awakening" to describe this ordinary object. Unlike most people, she is looking at the big picture behind this little leaf. To her, it dispels "the dull and ordinary with beauty and boldness". It is a diamond in the rough. She mentions that this lovely, quiet surprise is something she aspires to be. Not for the attention, but to be a window of color in this "tired, worn-out culture with its gray backround and forlorn heart". From this, I will take away that beauty is found in the littlest things if you look for it.
